Wilder Vs Washington Odds
- Wilder vs Ortiz odds: Tight enough?
On Saturday, February 25, 2017, Deontay Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) takes on Gerald Washington (18-0-1, 12 KOs) in a Heavyweight clash that will headline a PBC on Fox televised card from Alabama. In the co-main event, Tony Harrison (24-1, 20 KOs) takes on Jarrett Hurd (19-0, 13 KOs) for the vacant 154-pound IBF title in a fight that could very well steal the show. Deontay Wilder opened as a +120 underdog for this rematch, but is now the favorite with odds between -105 and -140. He closed as a -225 favorite in their first fight. Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 fight predictions: What will happen in Las Vegas heavyweight rematch? Briton has the chance to regain heavyweight supremacy in a razor-edged fight, and our team of. Wilder is a massive favorite over Washington at -1400. The challenger is pegged at +700. Like Wilder, Washington took up the sport at a late age. He made his pro debut in 2012 but is already 34 years old. Washington is perhaps one of the heavyweight who matches Wilder’s size.
Negotiations aren't finished yet bit it appears WBC champion Deontay Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) will face #1 WBA Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (27-0, 23 KOs) on November 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Should it come to fruition, Wilder vs Ortiz will be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing.
What's keeping it from being finalized?
The WBC's mandatory contender, Bermane Stiverne, wants another shot at Wilder and wants to execute his status. Stiverne, of course, lost a unanimous decision to Deontay in January 2015.
The then-twenty-nine-year-old 6'7' fighter was 32-0 with 32 knockouts and the hottest fighter in the division. Not only had Wilder knocked out all his opponents, he'd done so within four rounds. None of his 32 foes had seen Round 5.
Wilder vs Stiverne would be a ratings success and Deontay would claim the WBC title - But he was also taken the distance for the first time in his career.
Tyson vs Berbick, it wasn't.
Wilder looked good, but not great. Nevertheless, it was a convincing win and 'pretty good' fight that fell short of expectations. As a result, there's no public demand for a rematch and it's shocking Bermane is still rated that high. It's no surprise the fans and Showtime want to Wilder vs Ortiz instead.
Deontay Wilder is the most explosive heavyweight in the world and to see him match-up with another heavyweight, a Mack truck with an equal or greater pedigree, would truly be an amazing spectacle should it happen.
So, who do you like?
Wilder vs Ortiz odds
PaddyPower, as of September 2, has Wilder the slight favorite at 4/6. Ortiz is being slated as a 6/5 underdog. Hence, a $100 wager on the WBC Champ would generate $67 in winnings while the same bet on Ortiz would yield $120.
When Wilder faced Stiverne 2 1/2 years ago in what is still considered the former's biggest test to date, bet365 had Deontay at 4/6 and Stiverne at 8/5.
Since the Stiverne bout, the charismatic, extremely gifted Wilder has witnessed a drop in stock despite keeping his undefeated record intact and earning nothing but knockouts.
Staying relatively active, he's made successful title defenses against Chris Arreola, Artur Szpilka, Johann Duhaupas, Gerald Washington and Eric Molina, and has stopped them all inside the distance despite looking human uncharacteristically human at times.
Deontay Wilder, notwithstanding his awesome record of 38-0, 37 KOs, has his share of naysayers who insist he hasn't faced a name opponent or a truly elite-level heavyweight. A win over Ortiz is likely to change that.
Regardless of who you pick, Wilder vs Ortiz is one of the best two or three matches that could be made in the heavyweight division, and the odds are understandably tight.
