How Much Does Bookies Make

It feels as if when a new week comes around, a new name comes into the bookies reckoning for the Celtic job. In what is probably the most talked about subject this season, I am one hundred percent certain that this will continue to be a weekly talking point for all Celtic fans and blogging sites until the new man, if there is to be one, is appointed.

The last time I reported a clear favourite for the job, it took the site by storm and I have a feeling this one will too. The new joint favourite is current Scotland boss, Steve Clarke, who joins John Kennedy at 5/2 to succeed Neil Lennon at the end of the season as the new permanent Celtic boss.

Clarke recently steered Scotland to their first major international finals in over 20 years by beating Serbia in penalties in the Nations League Final just over three months ago and it would be a test of wills if he could turn down the chance to lead the Scots in Euro 2020 in favour of taking over the Parkhead hot seat.

Clarke’s rise to the national team boss started when he was appointed Kilmarnock manager back in October 2017 when Killie were languishing at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership. He steered Kilmarnock out of the drop zone to finish an impressive fifth place in his first season and tally up a club record of 59 points in a season.

His second season topped his first by taking Kilmarnock to third place in the league and to a European place after a 2-1 home victory against Rangers where Clarke famously said “Bye, bye Rangers” in what turned out to be his farewell speech to the Killie fans which infuriated the visiting fans. Clarke was then appointed Scotland boss just a few days later.

It is unclear whether the Hoops fans would welcome such a move as Clarke’s brand of football is certainly not easy on the eye but it is a name that will get the Celtic supporters talking.
