Steelers Over Under Win Total

Think about this for a second.

The Steelers managed to play .500 football (8-8) under the guidance of Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges. James Conner missed six games, JuJu Smith-Schuster missed four games, and Vance McDonald failed to surpass 40 receiving yards in a single game.

Pittsburgh’s win total was just over 9, on average, prior to Ben Roethlisberger’s injury The Steelers are 0-3 so far The 2-1 Saints saw their win total drop from 10.5 to 9.5 following the injury to Drew Brees. Nick Ballistreri shares his Over/Under pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total Things will look a little different at Heinz Field this season for the Steelers. After a 9-6-1 season in which the Steelers missed the playoffs, they shipped long-time star receiver Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders, figuring he was no longer worth the headache. First, below are all of those over/under win totals for NFL teams in 2019, courtesy of BetOnline.ag. MORE: Ranking the NFL's best rivalries in 2019 NFL over/under win totals for 2019. The Pittsburgh Steelers ’ over-under for win totals ahead of the 2020 regular season in the post-draft analysis was posted recently, and Las Vegas currently has their number at 9.0 wins.

Fast forward to today, and Ben Roethlisberger is healthy and rejuvenated. A couple of noteworthy pass-catchers have arrived, and the defense is one of the top units in all of the National Football League.

It’s important to take all of these factors into account before you make any Pittsburgh Steelers win total predictions for 2020. On paper, we could be looking at a squad ready to challenge the Ravens to supremacy in the AFC North.

I like plus-money, and I think the Steelers will be vastly improved from 2019.

UnderWin

Add that up, and targeting the over when betting the Steelers’ win total online starts to sound like a no-brainer. Of course, it would have been nice to see the top football betting sites install Pittsburgh’s win total at 8.5 or 9, but getting to double-digit victories is still well within the cards.

We’re talking about a top-5 defense both in terms of points allowed and yards surrendered. A linebacking room headed by T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree is intimidating enough, but then you’ve got guys Devin Bush and Terrell Edmunds wreaking havoc in the middle of the field. Throw in Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joe Haden in the back end, and you quickly see why Keith Butler’s group is so ferocious.

If the Pittsburgh defense can sustain their level of play from 2019 and once again give up fewer than 19 points per game, we could be looking at a sneaky Super Bowl sleeper. At the very least, I see Mike Tomlin’s team amassing 10-11 regular-season victories and clinching a berth in the playoffs.

Steelers’ Exact Win Total

Facing the Giants on Monday Night Football in week 1 is an extremely winnable game. It should be smooth sailing in weeks 2 and 3 (home games against Denver and Houston), giving the Steelers are legitimate shot at starting the year 3-0.

Boom — off to the races.

When you go back and study what made the Steelers offense so inefficient in 2019, two things immediately come to light.

Pittsburgh scored touchdowns on just 35% of their red zone drives — the worst percentage in all of the league. The Steelers only converted 34.4% of their third-downs, which ranked 27th in the NFL.

Having Big Ben back under center is first and foremost what’s going to make a difference, but let’s get back to the two noteworthy pass-catchers I alluded to at the outset.

Eric Ebron hauled in 13 touchdowns in 2018 and is a prime target inside the 20-yard line. Ebron has recovered from an ankle injury that hampered him throughout 2019 and will be a valuable asset for Roethlisberger throughout the year.

Speaking of a newcomer who can do damage at the goal line, rookie Chase Claypool should also factor in right from the get-go. Claypool’s big body (6’4” 238 pounds) pushes JuJu Smith-Schuster into the slot, where he is more comfortable, and affords James Washington more space to roam freely.

Don’t look now, but 12-4 and hosting a playoff game in January is not out of sight.
